經過多年的植物自然生長和頻繁的水體交換，基圍#8b及#10的蘆葦叢生境生長出鹵蕨等非蘆葦植物，水道累積了不少淤泥，使得目標保育物種所依賴的生境質量下降。
因此，本會將於今年夏季4月至10月期間進行生境改善工程，移除基圍#8b東部、#10西部蘆葦叢中的非蘆葦植物，並對基圍水道進行疏浚，為依賴蘆葦叢的野生動物提供更高質量的覓食、棲息及躲避天敵的空間。

Owing to years of water exchange and vegetation growth, non-target terrestrial vegetation has invaded the reedbed, and channels have been silting up, resulting in the decrease of the ecological function of the reedbed habitat.
Habitat enhancement works will be carried out this summer from April to October to restore the reedbed habitat to provide better-quality foraging and roosting ground for reedbed-associated wildlife. These works include removal of non-reed vegetation from the reedbeds in the eastern part of Gei wai #8b and the western part of Gei wai #10, and channel desiltation.

基圍#21作為高潮位棲息地，將於今年4月至10月期間開展生境改善工程。西部零散的小島將會被推平以營造更大片的開闊水面生境，東部的小島將會進一步平整以重塑合適水鳥使用的鳥島。同時基圍周邊水道會進行疏浚，清除的淤泥將會被放置在基圍周邊及水道的堤岸上。

Designated as a high-tide roosting area, habitat enhancement works will be carried out at Gei wai #21 this summer from April to October. Works include lowering the scattered islands in the western part to expand the open-water area, and reprofiling the bird islands with optimal elevations in the eastern part. The perimeter channels will be desilted, and the silt/mud will be placed along the outer perimeter bund. These efforts will provide additional hide-tide roost for shorebirds and waterfowls.
